Always Use Protection

I’ve decided to get a card protector.

I’ve never used one before in a live game, but the more I think about it the more it makes sense.

I’ve seen a number of horrible instances documented online where players have had their hand mucked by the dealer by accident, or cards have landed on other players cards after been thrown by another player.  The worst case i’ve seen is this video which i stumbled across a couple of years back.  I can’t imagine being in that position having run deep in a tournament.  Errors happen, but they can be minimised.

Another good reason for getting a card protector relates to my previous post about tells.  Having something to place on top of your cards (that isn’t just a chip) can play a massive role in making sure each hand is played in a uniformly manner. It would also give me time to pause before making my move, as i’m aware sometimes I can react too quickly/rashly before making a decision.

Now that I’ve decided to get one, the question is what kind?  Most card protectors look like enlarged coins with logos, however some are a lot more unique to the player.  Whether or not they are more personal or believe that the item may bring them luck, the card protectors players can have varies dramatically.

I just searched my entire flat to see if I had anything which resembled a fun card protector, however it turns out I am not in possession of any little toy figurines.  I guess thats a good thing as i’m 26 and it’d be a little odd if I had an entire box of them just laying around.

I’ve just had a quick google though and I think i’d like something like the little Batman seen on the right.  The only issue is that I can’t seem to find anywhere to actually buy it…

Oh well.

So the search begins.  I have 3 weeks to buy myself a toy.  Feel like a little kid again.
